hi.
another favorite in my kitchen is, of course, wood (image larger here).
here you will see four pieces i love, love, love.
the two spoons are years old now both purchased from woodworkers at craft fairs. both have chips and splits but i use the little one to stir my french press every morning. i'll have these spoons as long as i can keep using them! the bowl is a very special souvenir from a very special first trip out to vermont & maine; it only gets better with time. and the little owl cutting board was grandma v.'s. she did not use it once (like much of her stuff) but since it has lived with me it has lots of cutting marks and i like to use it to serve cheese. i thought she would have liked to see it put to good use.
tomorrow, my bedroom (for the record i had to cut out all consideration of art and clothing when doing this little 'take stock' experiment otherwise we would have been here for weeks talking about this!).
thanks again for joining me in this space!
bye for now,
mav

mav, i don't think you'd get any objections to continuing this practice for another couple of weeks! bring on the art and the clothes i say.

Beautiful image. My stepdad is a woodturner and I love using his bowls and chopping boards. That owl board is really pretty.

i love that owl cutting board too! i inherited boxes (literally) of kitchen stuff from my grandma after she died and at first i felt weird about using it, but then, being the amazing cook and baker that she was, i know she would have wanted me to put everything to good use. it's such a warm feeling to do so.

I am loving this glimpse of your favorite things. It has completely inspired me to take stock of my own things and maybe photograph them as well. Thanks!

I am in love with those spoons. I too am really enjoying this series of posts. I have been giving much thought to pairing down my belongings and these post are motivating me. How nice would it be if everything belonging was special and loved?

that is one cute cutting board. i love how wooden utensils can evoke memories. i have two wooden spreaders, one from ottawa, and one from new zealand (both of which i went), and they remind me of the wonderful trips I took there.

i love the different woods together, as well as all the curved edges reflected again in the fruit - just beautiful. can't wait to see the next room!
